I got two scarves from Express before our Boston trip. I’ve been wearing them like they’re the only things I own I need to start dabbling in jewelry, but I have a hard time liking the stuff that’s plastic and looks like it’s from the 80s. I need things that won’t break the bank, but don’t make me look like a kid. Where do you shop for yours?

You need a scarf. And some jewelry. That’s what I accessorize with. It would be shoes too except I have a hard time finding ones that are comfy. But definitely a scarf.

Those are really cool shoes! My faves aren’t even from last season…. more like 5 years ago! But I still love them, regardless. I am not good at accessorizing. Never have been. Lately, it’s a good day if I actually have my wedding ring and watch on, much less any other jewelry/accessories. I’ve gotten to be pretty lazy about stuff lately, though, and I’m thankful for my own kick in the butt about it.

I only know what a snood is from researching 40s styles for a Christmas party we’ll be attending. They’re coming back in style!? That would be awesome as it seems one of the only ways I’m wearing my hair now is in a ponytail. Having a stylish reason to have it pinned like that would be cool

I’m not quite sure I could pull off the dress everyday either. In the winter I need some long johns under my jeans. Maybe I could layer the dress over the jeans (and long johns). That seems to be hot right now too, although I haven’t been a fan before.

Scarves are pretty user friendly. I have enjoyed wearing the two I got a couple weeks ago.

I was reading an article about snoods over the weekend. (Google it if, like me, you are among the uninformed. Being a fashionista though you probably are all over this hot trend!)

The mother is the queen of accessorizing. Me? Not so much. I clearly missed that gene. I could probably learn to like scarves though.

And the SAME dress every day. First off, just wearing a dress all day, every day would make me want to slit my wrists. Not sure how that girl is pulling that one off!

I admire it. Don’t think I could do it but it is thought provoking… just the way it made you examine your hesitation that’s linked all the way back to your middle school days. As I learn more about myself and people in general, I’m amazed at how I’m the only one that’s really that overly concerned with myself, everyone else is concerned only with themselves:) Great post. Sustainablity is something more Americans need to be more aware of – including me!

Oh, I don’t think she looks ridiculous! I thought some of her looks were quite inspiriational!

I think the project is very interesting. Thanks for posting it!

I heard a wardrobe consultant say that we should spend something like 30% of our clothing budget on clothes and 70% on accessories. She said that accessories made all the difference and we could dress for much cheaper if we knew how to accessorize better.

Since then I’ve tried to buy less clothes (not that I was ever a big shopper) and more jewelry, scarves, broaches, etc. Accessories really do make an outfit all new!

Sounds like he really knows what he’s talking about. I’m going to try doing more timed tests, I like that. Also it’s very neat to hear homeschoolers actually treat him like a person – “they greet me.” Guess that kind of puts the lie to the whole socialization argument, huh?

Here from BPOTW. Very interesting, I never heard of UP before.
I agree with you about moderation and I agree with your criticism of her.
And I also think she’s no role model as she looks ridiculous. Which makes me wonder whether she’s all about sustainability or if she’s really hoping for a book deal!

As someone who wore a plaid uniform five days a week for five years there is NO WAY i would do this myself. Uniforms are a great idea but i did it once. LOL

If you want a re-do with Sarah Palin she will be signing books on Fort Bragg on November 23!

Jared is making a DC trip in January and wants to know of some good places to eat near the museums. I think he is planning to stay in that area too.
